How is it possible my little peanut has 2, yes 2 teeth??? Sunday she had 1, Monday she had 2. Sad, but exciting. Knawing on Pear wedges keeps her pretty well entertained for close to an hour right now. Here is a pic of her ONE tooth, imagine one a little smaller right next to it. TankThis little guy is content staying a baby. Still no teeth. What he lacks in teeth he makes up for appetite. This kid is a bottomless pit. He will eat anything. He has even been eating pears, blueberries, potatoes, pasta, chunky style! His new favorite- pickled beans. Seriously, his dads kid. Tank says "See Dad, you hook the fish like this...." Peas Please- or notFor no apparent reason Both my children have started not liking peas. Inorder for them not to break down I have to mix peas with apples or pears now. Sigh. However they do like peppers? Waiting PatientlyAdding to my diapers stash. I realized summer will be here before I know it and the kids will most likely be running around 1/2 naked. Because thats how we roll here. I decided I didn't want them ruining my expensive, wonderful, best diapers ever (Charlie Banana) outside. SO I decided to order some really cheep ones off of ebay. <$3 each. Figured if they are wearing them outside and they leak big deal, spray them off with a hose, change them and on we go right? This is probably the reason why I haven't fed my desire to buy REALLY CUTE ONES from one of the many CD shops on Etsy.com. You could really spend a lot of $$ on cloth! Good thing I'm scared to spend $$. Crazy Mid-west weather.Sunday we had an ice-storm. Not really windy just ice, ice ice. You couldn't walk down our driveway. SOLID ICE. Ben tried driving the truck accross the yard, he went sideways. Monday was a little warmer, dreary, foggy and wet. Last night I listened to the thunder and watched the lighting of the thunderstorms just south of us. This morning it is in the 50s, dreary, and foggy. We are under a winter storm watch starting this eveing. WTH!
I have a feeling these snow suits I bought the kids won't get used. I finally got them then we had the really cold snap, then it was just to set and chilly. One morning we are going to wake up and its going to be spring. I just know it. Don't get me wrong, I'm ready for spring. I have so many plans for my kitchen garden and things to do with the kids. But I bought these snow suits and I want them to get used!

I had Rachael Ray on the otherday. Wasn't really watching it but as she was plating up this recipe just happened to walk into the room. Wozah! It looked DELICIOUS! I went directly to her webpage and saved the recipe. A few days later I had all the ingrediants piled in the kitchen. When Ben came home, I said = there is supper, I'm going to the grocery store. COOK. BEN made this, it was really good. http://www.rachaelrayshow.com/food/recipes/grainy-mustard-chicken-thighs/ I didn't take any pics of our version. I was hungry and it didnt' last long! We obviously didn't make as big of a batch as RR did and we didn't use chicken thighs. We did however use our own chicken, green beans and potatos. Makes you feel really good when you can eat stuff you grew/raised, even in January! If you don't like mustard this may not be the recipe for you. BUT that being said it isn't overpowering, just a nice alternative to every day chicken. Re-heated really well too. Could also probably use pork chops instead of chicken. Num Num... now I only wish I had something planned for supper tonight. Smoothie updateOn the smoothie note, I bought my first ever carton of coconut milk.
Little $$ BUT it really sweetened up the smoothies AND I use it in my coffee (vanilla flavor) with way less calories (and it is cheeper than creamer)! My magic bullet bit the dust, I knew this was coming. 6 years, one appliance is just ASKING for things to break. I was in the middle of making a batch of baby food so I had to dig out (FIND) my large old blender. I realized I still have a ton of stuff to unpack from moving well over 1 year ago. OOPS. I decided to just use this old thing until it too blows up. I don't use it when I have something else. Since it takes up so much room to store I figured use it till it breaks then get what I REALLY want. I'm pretty sure if this little girl wants something she just has to make this face at Dad... They are finally learning to smile for the camera. :) Tank is pretty at home in his coveralls, flannel shirt, playing with his truck. SO happy! I tried getting pics of the kids together... Getting a good pic of ONE baby is hard, two... yeah it just doesn't happen. :S
I recieved a cook book for christmas from my mother. All the recipes have eggs in them. Score for me, seeing as we always have TONS of eggs in the fridge unless its right after we gave some away. ANYWHO- the one recipe I've tried is the smoothy. Kind of. I don't really follow directions well, nor do I like to break out the measuring utensils. Expecially with this. I figured we aren't baking or cooking so it'll be ok. The general base of the smoothy is 1 cup milk (coconut, goats, soy, cows) about 1 cup fruit (it was a banana recipe but I'm not a huge fan of anything banana flavored unless it is in banana form) 1 tbsp ground flax seed (could use chia seed also), 1 raw egg, 1tsp vanilla. I've added (not all at the same time) Kale, spinach and honey also. Here is what I made this morning. Frozen cranberries, frozen blackberries (from our yard), Kale, 2% milk, flax seed (ground) egg and vanilla. Like I said I do not measure. If its to tart from the cranberries and kale I just add a little honey at the end. This little magic bullet is a permanant fixture on my counter. Between baby food and my smoothies it gets used every day. We recieved it as a wedding gift over 6 years ago. I'm a fan because I have large blender. I never use it because for 1 serving its a lot to wash. With this I can actually use the cup that I blend everything in to drink from. 1 less dish. (i have a large blender, where? I have no idea) Finished product. Nice light, fresh smoothy. I can't wait till spring and I can put some fresh herbs in it from my garden. Lemon basil, mint... yum.
Now, you are wondering WHY did I post this? I've been trying so hard to eat right but with 2 infants in the house it isn't all that easy. This is REALLY simple, no cooking (BONUS!) 1 dish to wash (if i don't pour it in a glass for the picture) ANNNNNDDDD it has started making me feel like I have SO much more energy. I tolerate crabby kids not napping better, I get more done, less break downs. Speaking of kids not napping... I get email notifications when someone posts a comment on my blog- This is one I got this morning. mom has just posted a comment on your blog post, A little bit of this, a little bit of that: I love your blog. I start every morning checking in and end every day doing the same. I don't comment much but I AM totally appreciating the opportunity to peek in on a day with your family! I also recieve mail written like this. Am I supposed to know WHO'S mom this is??? I mean I don't even have hand writing to go with here people! I Baby clothes are funny...It is funny how there are some size 3m shirts (not onsies) that still fit the kids. But yet there are 6m clothes that don't. Wouldn't it be more efficiant to lable them as 12lbs - 18lbs? We have some clothes labled this way. And for the most part they are pretty accurate. Other clothes, the proportions are hilarious. See the pic below: it is a 6-9m sleeper. Do you see the problem here? Tanks feet may be tall but they are not overly long, and fit just fine in all other pjs. Kaitapiller is going to be TROUBLETrying to get into the diaper cupboard keeps Kaitpiller entertained for quite awhile. I think we are going to have a troublemaker on our hands! But she is sooo darn cute that she will probbly get away with distroying my diper organization. I give up, will you please just give me ONE to play with? Tank (Kait too) Woke up this morning at 5:30.It's 5:30am, I hear talking and the all so obvious "bang, bang, bang" of little feet kicking their crib slats. This is a sure sign my kids are awake, not hungery or wet, but AWAKE. I double check the time. Yup 5:30am. I lay there thinking maybe if I ignore them they'll drive back to sleep (yeah right). Then the yelling starts. It's not crying, its not crabbiness its a "HEY YOU GUYS I'M AWAKE" yell coming from Tank. I dragged my tired butt out of bed because these two kids woke up at 5:30AM! THIS is Tank at 5:30am after I bring him downstairs because he won't go back to sleep. Such a bundle of energy. Yup Tank you LOOK like you should be awake! Thanks for making me get up!! Despite the fact that they both got up at 5:30. They both got a bottle, chilled a bit and then got put back to bed at 6:30. Naps have rocked so far today. WAY better than the "we refuse to nap" wednesday that we experianced yesterday. I didn't get much done. TODAY I've already gotten 2 loads of laundry done, bananas and pears pureed and in the freezer, kitchen cleaned. One of the dining room chairs glued and clamped together, paid bills and balanced the books, fed all the animals and ran down to the mail box.
Tank is waking up. Bye Josiah and kaitlin are 6 months old! WHAT!?!?! How can this be possible? These 6m have dissapeared, why hasn't the baby weight? The kids switched Dr.s this month. We decided that driving all the way to Wloo for an actual pedi dr was getting alittle old seeing as they are both healthy. Even though they were 6weeks early and small, you'd have no idea anymore. They are now seeing a Family DR in NH. He was GREAT! The initial admissions stuff took quite awhile and trying to fill out paperwork with two squirmy, slighly crabby teething babies wasn't the easiest. BUT that won't have to be done again. AND I had Ben there to help! This usually wasn't the case when we had to drive to WLoo. By the time we got home 1/2 the day was gone. :( Both kids are doing great. No issues and have only been sick once-i know I'm jynxing myself here. Dr. thought they were close to term, said he never would have guessed they were 6 weeks early. GOO KIDDOS! Neither kid weighs as much as we thought. Kait weighs in at a whopping 15lbs 2oz and Josiah 16lbs and 5oz. OVER `10 pounds from their birth weight. Both are about 26" long. and trending right around 50% on the charts. This past month has been the most interesting, so many changes in the kids. They are really growing up! This makes me sad and happy all at the same time! How can this be? Sad that no more baby baby. No more 4 naps a day. No more 0-6m clothes. No more just holding them without them wiggling ALL OVER THE PLACE and almost falling off your lap at supper. No more leaving them on the floor and running to the kitchen without worrying where they are going to be when you get back! But it makes me happy that they are so much more interactive, giggles about kill me, I LOVE it when they sit still and look at the pictures when we read books. I LOVE that i have to say NO dont touch that. I LOVE that in church they make faces at the people around us. Kait last weekend looked at her great aunt and just looked serious but then looked at her great uncle and just LAUGHED several times- seriously Kait (And tank too) how are we supposed to pay attention in church when you are being so freaking adorable? I know all the old ladies don't mind, seriously I've caught a few making faces at you trying to MAKE you smile. BUSTED! This month Kait mastered rolling over early on. Josiah was TRYING SO HARD! He would get all the way on his side and get stuck. He would get so mad- little man would yell and grunt. It just wasn't happening. Then on Saturday 4 days before he turned 6m he FINALLY rolled from his back to his belly! He was SOOOO Proud of himself. He made it to his belly, looked at me with this serious face that said "did I just do something good? did that just happen? and then got this HUGE grin on his face. By the end of the day Tank had this mastered. I WAS SO PROUD OF HIM! I think Kaitapiller was too. She'd be on the floor by him just watching him while he was trying so hard. He'd finally land on his belly, she'd smile and kick the floor. Sisters love their brothers! I love the fact that they realize they did sometihng cool and new and are obviously excited about their new found ability. Sunday Kait had a tooth break through! Little girl is a trooper. I MAY have broke the nuk back out. I had these things 99% out of our house! (Have i said how I hate pacifiers?!?) we were only using them for pinches in church. BUT they are helping Kait sleep at night. SOOO I'm bummed about the nuk but you win some you loose some. Josiah I think is close, and I fear he isn't going to handle teething as well as his sister. He is as grumpy as she is without any teethers poking through. Just goes to prove Women are stronger than men right? Lately, I have noticed when the kids are playing on the floor Tank will get in Kaitapillers space and take the ONE TOY she is playing with. Apparently "MINE" kicks in early on. Kait will SCREAM and just look at JT like she is subliminally saying "GIVE IT BACK OR I"M GOING TO TELL MOOOOOOOOMMMMM". In the past month I get a huge smile on my face in the mornings, ok that may be a lie because I'm not, nore ever have been a moning person. However when the kids both get HUGE smiles and laugh at little when they see each other is awesome. Almost like they are saying "hey you, I missed you." I love watching these guys interact. I can't help but wonder how on earth singletons keep themselves entertained. I mean they don't have someone their size to suck on their toes, ears, or hands. They dont' have someone that has to go to bed at the exact (most times) same time as you do, hitting milestones when you are. Seriously all us singletons missed out! already learning to dance with style Many good things came with 2012. Best one being the kids. Today they "helped me stuff diapers" And then they were just looking cute... ok not that they don't look cute all the time but... this is a little out of order but who loves their sister? i ended my day by pulling out their 6-9m clothes. sad. Because of the fact I put them in cloth diapers I have to size most of their clothes up.
