Again, 3rd Dog had kittens. I wasn't sure she'd have kittens this spring. Late this winter she must have gotten her front paw stuck in a trap and was still healing. But early this spring we heard the tell tail signs that she was ready. So we watched her, waited and saw her belly getting bigger and bigger.
There are now 6 little kittens cuddled up warm and cozy in the haymow. We took the kids up to check them out one night after Isaiah went to bed. 2 yellow, one lighter than the other and 4 calicoish kittens. Kids are in love with them. I'm ok with them as long as they live in the barn.

These works above describe my boys well. I love watching Josiah turn over my landscaping rocks looking for ants and worms for hours with such a look of concentration. His favorite book at the moment is "How to catch a monster" . Love how he sings "Monster Monster one, two, three. Won't you come out and play with me?" Josiah may also be accident prone. Always getting little cuts, smashing his fingers, catching his toenails on crates and ripping them back. I can't tell you how many times he has bitten his tongue or finger in any given day. BUT he is also my cuddle bug when he is hurt or not feeling well. Last week my trouble butt fell and hit his head pretty hard on the window sill in the play porch. Huge gash, knob and (eek) blood. He cuddled like this for an hour before we could bribe him with ice cream or chocolate milk two of his favorite treats that he doesn't usually turn down. By no means am I happy when he gets hurt. But for this short time my son sat still and cuddled. No elbows, knees or little feets giving me bruises as I get crawled all over. Usually his desire to cuddle is short lived 5 min max so I sat, soaked it up while I could. 30 min after these pictures were taken he was up running around and laughing. He still has a gash and a good little bump but it bothers him none.
Kait has been a thumb suckered since, well since forever it seams. Shortly after she found her hand as an infant I suppose. This spring she was getting a horrible callous on her thumb AND lip. She started sucking it 85% of the time. I couldn't tell you how many times I told her to get it out of her mouth during the day. I was horrified when people, some total strangers, some who should know better, would say her thumb sucking was so cute. In church at the sign of peace, shaking her little hand all covered in slobber. Yuck!
I look at my calendar. I know it says that 365 days have passed since the day Isaiah was born. I have counted the days and lived them all. Every single one on of them. But I have NO IDEA where they all went. I can understand missing a few days because of sleepless nights and long days but not a couple of months. Where did this year go? The day Isaiah was born. The last day that Isaiah wasn't one. Josiah and Kaitlin at 1 year. I smile and nod when people look at Isaiah and tell him that he looks just like Josiah. He is the spitting image of Kait but with blue eyes. The curly hair, the face shape, and most likely the coloring (he is already starting to tan). He also hates socks, just like his sister. Between the two I am always finding socks around the house.
Big News! Isaiah really started walking TODAY. Today he took 4 steps. I think making him stay in the backpack yesterday while the kids got to run around was the deciding factor for him. I told him when he fussed a bit that if he'd learn how to walk he could get down and play. Yesterday he'd take a step and fall on his face. He got his first hair cut a few weeks ago. Kait needed a trim and Josiah needed a cut other than getting it buzzed so since Isaiah was getting a bit to shaggy for my liking I figured what the heck. He did AWESOME! No crying or fussing until she got the clipper out to trim around his ears. He did better than JnK did. They both cried and tried to bold out of the chair. ;-) Still not much for words. Mama and Dad are the only ones I can tell you he is ACTUALLY saying. But we have also been working on a few very useful every days signs. More, All done, Please and thank you. He has "more" down pretty well (when he wants to) "all done", I have seen him say it but I'm not sure he is EVER truly done eating so he doesn't use it often. "please" and "thank you" are works in progress. I said in past updates about Isaiah that he was possibly the best and happiest baby. That still stands true. He is so happy! He loves playing with his big sister and brother. I love when they are all sitting on the porch playing, nicely, together. Or when Josiah play with their farm stuff together. Or how they love to entertain Isaiah when I'm putting clothes away. The other day they even "played house" for a bit and Isaiah was Kait's baby. I stopped, sat down and just listened. It was priceless. Jnk LOVE their little brother. At about 1 year old we started staying after mass for "Coffee and Dough Nuts", Isaiah has gotten to stay since he was born. He may be a doughnut addict like his brother already. Hopefully he doesn't love coffee as early though! So much has happened in the past year. We have been beyond blessed with our children. We thank God for them every day. Missing what has been, looking forward to what will be. |
