Happy Easter to your family from ours! They are both a bit frumpy because they napped in their clothes, ate lunch and then we remembered to take pics. And then trying to get them to stay remotly still and look at the camera/happy at the same time....... :S. (Below) Side note: Kaits dress looks pretty darn cute with a dark pair of Jeggings... There has not been many smiles this afternoon. :( Tank has a cold and the littlest things have been causing tears. Poor dude. And his crying makes Kait look at him with a sad face. Hope tomorrow is a better day!

Courage doesn't always roar. Is it possible that spring is here? We got to go for a walk yesterday. Ben get a little sad that Kaiters gets mistaken for a boy. I can't imagine why that happens.... But I have a coat and hat that fit her. WHY would I go buy something that she'll wear for a few more weeks and then never fit in again? He said we can get her ears pierced. But I'm worried about tank pulling at them. I've already taken mine out because of him. Kait can't defend herself as well as I can. So until spring actually arrives in full force and coats/warm hats are not required. This girl will get mistaken for a boy. Sorry Dad. They were pretty excited, or skeptical.... How can you not love these faces? They both fell asleep on the way home.... I realize that our walk probably didn't cause my son to get a cough.... He woke up this morning with a cough so he is now back in pjs with baby vicks, and we probably won't get our walk in this afternoon again. Sigh.
The shortest Distance between two points is a straight line..... But Tank, MAYBE the path of least resistance was the better choice here? A good mother probably would have rushed in to make him stop crying and extract him from his predicament, and then think "Man wish I had a picture to show dad." Not your greatest plan girly :) But we love you!Friday started out just like any other day. Kids got up we changed and fed them. Put them down for nap after some play time. Kaiters got up from nap first and I tried her Easter outfit on. I noticed NOTHING wrong. She just got grumpier as the morning ended and noon ticked closer. Lunch for her was AWFUL! She hardly ate, she was fussy the whole time. I put her down out of her high chair. Extracted Tank from his, shook all the food free from his self. And let them play while I cleaned up lunch and got their bottles ready. I came back in the living room and I though Kait looked TIRED. She got her bottle but I knew something was wrong and touched her head. The girl was BURNING up! Temp of 102! Clinic said "We could either squeeeeezzzeee her in this afternoon at 330, OR you can do Urgent care in the morning." Um yes please my daughter has a temp of 102 lets not wait till tomorrow! I put her down for nap while we waited for Dad to get home to stay with Josiah and time to pass so we weren't to early for the 330 squeeeezzzzzeeeed in appt. Dad was home by 2, Kait woke up needed her diaper changed, checked her temp and it had gone up more and she was just red from being so warm. I said Ben get her some clean clothes we are leaving NOW. The clinic got us in right away. No sign of ear infections (which is what the EXPECT/Hope to see), flu test came back negative. So we waited on the awful blood work and pee test. Blood work came back showing she was fighting an infection so she got admitted right away. Kaiters was a trooper the whole time. She blew the nurses out of the water with her ability to sleep through the night. The first night when we were putting her down the night nurse said "Just page me when she wakes up and I'll check her vitals then so we dont' wake her". My response Ok see you between 6 and 7am... yeah they woke her up to check her vitals... booo. The next two nights since her temp had been staying down they just snuck in checked her temp just with their hand on her forhead so they didn't wake her. Every time we would go for a walk one nurse at the desk would say to the other "that little one sleeps through the night!" I had to chuckle a little while I thought to myself "and so does her brother!" Kaiters 1st night. She wasn't feeling very well. Kait spent most of her time tethered to the IV getting fluids and her antibiotics. THIS was probably the hardest part with her. We couldn't just get up and go for a walk, the line was constantly getting kinked, she was pulling at it and trying to eat it. It was exhausting!!! Sunday morning after her nap she got the line taken off but the iv was still in her foot so she could get antibiotics that night again. But it was freedom! We spent much time walking the short hallways. (this is seriously a tiny hospital. it only has 1 floor. I could walk down the "inpatient" hall past the nurses station, past the clinic, past the food court and past the chapal in under 3 min if I was walking very very slowly) Our stay at this tiny small town hospital reafirmed my belief that a small town is the best place to be. So many of the staff members at the hospital are members at our church, and most are related to my husband in some extended way. We heard the words "Oh no! Why are YOU GUYS here!" It was nice to see familiar faces during our stay. It really made us feel at home and part of the community. Added bonus the church we are members at is literally accross the street from the hospital. We got to watch Dad walk to church. And waved hello to all our friends (even though they had no idea we were there or that we were waving- anything to keep the little one entertained!) I imagine a ton of visitors with questions after mass next weekend! I only had one mild melt down this whole time. It was when I dropped Tank off at his great aunt and uncles to spend the night saturday night. It was my 2nd night in a row to NOT put my son to bed and see his face when he woke up. :( Ben stayed with him Friday night at the house. But we 1. didn't want to expose him to anything at the hospital if we didn't have to and 2. although it was nice to have him at the hospital with us it was 4xs the work. I needed Ben there with 2 free hands so I got a break. It was the best thing for Tank. But it sure was hard on Mommy! Several nurses commented on how well I handled the blood draws, xrays etc because they caused Kaiters to scream!!!. I can honestly say these times of crying don't hurt me so much. Yes I do wish she wasn't crying, scared, hurting. BUT I know WHY she is crying and I know it WILL be over soon. It's when I have NO idea why they are freaking out that its hard. ANYWAYS: Sidetracked a bit. Kaiters had an ultrasound on Monday morning and was released. We have not gotten the results from that yet. She has a follow up appt on the 4th and I'm sure we'll here the results then. Depending on the results from the ultra sound they may want her to get some more tests done at a larger hospital. But we'll cross that bridge when we get there. When Kaiters was released we had Tank there. We loaded them in their seats in the truck. I could NOT get Tank to sit back for the life of me. He just wanted to keep looking at his sister to make sure she was there. I think they took their best naps EVER when they got home! It was a very long weekend for everyone. We would like to thank everyone for their continued prayers. They all mean so much to us. We are blessed. Right now we have 2 happy sleepy babies upstairs napping. I couldn't ask for more. It would be an understatement to say that the kids were excited to see each other! Man this crib is tasty! They don't normally stay sleeping in their car seats once we get them in the house. But today they slept like this for a good 30-45min. I didn't want to risk waking them to put them in their cribs. Dear Kaiterpiller-
Easter is slowly approaching. Even though spring has not graced us yet, I've been planning the kids' Easter mass outfits in my head for some time now. This is easier said than done when I want to dress them in cute light weight short sheeve/sleeveless outfits. But because winter is still holding on tight, reality tells me to bundle them up! But here is a sneak peak at their outfits, or at least the pieces I decided to sew for them. I wasn't about to sew Tank a 3 piece outfit. More pictures to come from Easter. I hope the kids cooperate (easier said than done) because I really would like to get some nice pictures of them in our church back home. It is beautiful since the restoration work. I can only imagine how glorious it will look on Easter morning all decked out in Easter lillys. Above: The Piece I sewed for Tank Above: The piece I sewed for Kaiterpillerj, for some reason the color is a little off. The lace is a cream color and the purple isn't so deep. They turned 8m on Saturday. I'm begrudgingly (spelling people?) writing this post. They are NOT supposed to get older. In the past month they have changed EVERY SINGLE DAY by leaps and bounds. Don't ask me when they started sitting themselves up in the middle of the floor without any assistance. It just suddenly happened and they look at me with a face that says "hey mom guess what I'm growing up, deal with it." They really started crawling. Not just army crawling or ackwardly pulling themselves across the floor. They CRAWL. Then they started pulling themselves up to their knees. NOW they are pulling themselves up to a standing position. And NOWWWWW they are letting go with one hand and just standing there! WHO told them they could do this? I did not give them permission to grow up!!! Infact I forbid it. Over- and- over-and over again! With all this new found movement they are slowly learning to fall with grace. There have been a lot less head colisions with the floor in the last 3 days. If you ask them to come to you, they now crawl right to you. Pretty awesome. If you set up their farm animals in front of them (Cow, Horse, Pig) they can pick out which one you ask for. I haven't gotten them to HAND them to me yet though. Well, this happens until we want to show Daddy, then they pick the wrong animal. I'm pretty sure they do this on purpose! Stinkers. I know I had promised to get pics last month. I failed. It is getting hard to get cute pics because they just won't sit still. So imagine my frusteration wanting one of the two of them together. Not going to happen I think. Here are just a few of my little munchkins. We have been patiently waiting for winter to show up here in Iowa. We completly missed it last winter. Does anyone else remember having their doors and windows open in Feb?!?! This year it was colder but no snow still. Until Now. It waited till we are ALL ready for spring. Our garden plans are made, our seeds bought and plants ordered. We are ready. BEYOND ready. Spring officially starts next week. Mother nature take notice! Ok whine fest over. This was a good storm. In my book, this time of year if you are going to get slammed with snow, it better be a good one. This one was B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. My pictures do no justice. I took a ton! Today I was kid-less from about 9:30-4:00. (Blessed) I was able to have lunch with the hubby!!! It has been WAY TO LONG since we had lunch out together. When I was going to school in town we went out, or ate in his office on average 1x per week. I've missed it. The kids are lucky I didn't have my camera with me or I wouldn't have gotten very far very fast because I would have kept stopping to take pictures of the snow, they would still be at their aunt's house. Even though it snowed Sunday night into Monday the snow for the most part is still clinging onto the trees. This doesn't happen to often in the flat land where we get some pretty good winds (and today was WINDY). I took well over 100 pictures but I won't bore you with them. Here are just a few that I like the most. I laughed a little inside this morning. I checked a shipping status and notice it is getting shipped FedEx. Our FedEx driver HATES brown dog. The man won't even open his door unless someone is outside. He'll roll his window down and toss the package out on the ground. I've witnessed it. My favorite is when he doesn't wrap the package in a plastic bag and brown dog decides he needs to mark it as HIS. Our UPS driver on the other hand. Comes with treats in hand, ignores brown dog. Walks (ok jogs, because he is that efficiant) the package up to the porch opens the entry door and puts the package on the floor. Nice and safe, out of the weather and where brown dog can't mark it as HIS. Last winter after the only snow storm we had he even parked at the end of our long driveway and ran the package up to the house with brown dog at his heals. I'm not saying the UPS driver LIKES brown dog. But he makes an effort at least! My packages are always safe and sound. W/ FedEx I honestly think if he can't get it out his window he comes back the next day hoping someone is here. I haven't noticed that brown dog is any more aggressive acting (not that he would ever do anything to anyone unless actually provoked) towards the FedEx guy. Maybe the guy is a sally, maybe he is actually creepy and Brown Dog knows this... either way I laugh because he is scheduled to come to my house today. I'm going to watch him from the house to see how the package comes out of his truck this time. He is lucky that I don't order much stuff that is breakable. If he had thrown my sewing machine out his window all hell would have broken loose! Thank you mister FedEx driver for giving me something to look forward to today.
