Even though I am ready for spring, or at least for the weather to be warm enough that the kids can come outside and play! This weekends "blizzard" was nice. Ben and I are kind of weird like that. Sunday morning since it wasn't really cold (20*+) we ventured to church. That being said, if we didn't have my 1ton 4x4 we would NOT have been going to church. The highway into town wasn't plowed, they were covered and drifted. We made it :). We did NOT stay for our weekly coffee and doughnuts, we headed home right after mass. I sometimes give myself a pat on the back for being a good wife. Ben has a skid loader (no cab) and a tractor w/ loader (again, no cab) that he has been using to clean the driveway. The last few winters weren't really all that bad. I think last year he cleaned the yard out twice and that was more just to do it than it really needed to be done. However, this year with the record low temps, high winds, and above average forecast for snowfall the equipment he has wasn't ideal. I looked at Ben one day and just said "find a plow". That weekend we went to look at one for his dodge, it came home with us. I have been trying to find inexpensive car seats that ACTUALLY kind of sorta fit in ben's truck. I've only been able to find expensive ones so I've been holding off but I bit the bullet when he bought the plow. Scored a deal on RIONO R120 on amazon thanks to a color being discontinued. Manufactures date was only 10/13 so really not bad at all! ANYWHO we have seats that fit in ben's truck. They have to be properly put in the back seat yet but for the quick cleaning out of the yard they LOVED it. Look at Kait in the front seat waving. You can't see Tank because of the tinted back window but he was waving just as hard out the back window. They have a blast and are REALLY good in the truck when plowing. Tank even sits there making plow truck noises. LOVE IT. Great simple family time. And now we can hold off a bit on buying another vehicle that can fit all the car seats. :S

Dear Etsy.com my willpower is holding strong. I will not be swayed by your endless cuteness in all things fluffy butt. Or anything else for that matter! I was gifted a ETSY gift certificate many months ago. Although I LOVE ETSY I can NEVER make up my mind. TO. MANY. CHOICES. I was also instructed to use the $$ on something for myself. Does a diaper pail liner count? Oops. I NEEDED one if that counts for something. Tonight I've been drooling over newborn diapers. I've already restricted myself to using inexpensive covers, with receiving blankets and a few fitteds for the wee one. Since we have no plans on having another baby I have no desire to spend tons on newborn diapers. BUT THERE ARE SO MANY CUTE ONES OUT THERE! Here are a few... from a shop named "qtbunns" I think the camo is cute for a little boy. I probably would have bought this one with the remainder of the GC + a little out of my pocket except for its only good for up to 10 lbs. If wee one keeps on track at 2 weeks ahead of schedule AND cooks till 40weeks I'm doubting he'll fit in it for long! http://www.etsy.com/listing/97136675/sale-newborn-all-in-one-cloth-diaper?ref=sr_gallery_15&ga_search_query=newborn+AIO&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_page=5&ga_search_type=all These come from a shop called "my very best" they have some really cute diapers. Not just in NB size. These look like really well made diapers with double gussets and you can order in Velcro or snap closures. I think with a nb I'd go with Velcro, way easier/quicker and baby can't get them off yet. :) For their newborn listings they don't list the individual pattern. In this first group I'm ABSOLUTLY in love with the duck pattern, and like the one in the middle with the cars. Lucky for me, unlucky for shop owners, I keep my wallet locked in my truck. On nights like tonight it'd have to be a REALLY good deal for me to go out and get it. No purchases made tonight folks. Keeping on the saving $$ for house. :)
Every year I tell MYSELF I'll make a New Years resolution. I usually tell myself, and only myself and they are usually pretty standard resolutions, as resolutions go. A week later I have almost always forgotten them. Left on the shelf to collect dust. This year I hope to do better. I've already told you about my resolution to post on my blog more often. My hopes for my blog are to become more organized and well thought out. I feel like my posts are random and usually to long or not long enough and the things I write about are very random. I'd like to stick close to the reason why I started my blog in the first place. Which was to keep friends and family up to date on things going on at our little "farm" in the middle of God's Country, seeing as a LOT of you live in Wisconsin. I'll keep updating about the kids because I think, I'm sure this is way more interesting to you than how many eggs my chickens are/aren't laying. And really with a new little one to join our family in May I KNOW that's why you guys are really checking the blog out right? Besides having a resolution for my blog I have others that I'd like to work on. This is a HUGE one for me. I plan on pinching pennies EVERYWHERE I can and really start saving up to build our new house, garage, pole shed etc. I'm ready to have more than 0-1 outlet in each room. I'm read to have actual light switches in every room and not a pull chain in the middle of the room. I'm ready to have heat registers in EVERY room including upstairs. I'm ready to have more than 1 bathroom. One on each floor would be nice. This winter has been LONG to say the least and its only the middle of January! Yes, our house keeps us dry and warm in the winter and dry and cool in the summer. However this winter has been COLD and the pipes keep freezing up. I'm constantly thawing SOMETHING out. (Currently as I am writing this the water line to the toilet is froze, SO SICK OF THAWING THINGS OUT!) Don't get me wrong I am glad my children are "destroying" this old house and not a brand new one. But there is something to be said about having a house that's "finished" and up-to-date and not cobbled together. Next are a few small resolutions I have for the kids. Getting them to mass each and every weekend. We've been pretty good about this. There have been a few weekends where the kids were under the weather or the weather was bad that we didn't take them but Ben and I usually still made it. Ben to 8am mass and I go to 10am mass. Fun. Spending as much time outside enjoying everything there is about it. Eating fresh fruit and veggies from the garden. Planting trees. Picking up sticks. Chasing chickens. EXPLORING. All of course with a baby in tow. Dear little one, you aren't going to know what hit you. Sorry. ;) Read to them more. They are finally getting to a point where they'll sit and listen while I read them books. Tank LOVES to bring books to me to read and then loves to put them away too. :) Kait is interested but has a hard time sitting still. She'd rather read on her own. Lastly, to be a happier me. Take more time for myself. I don't spend enough time on myself or doing things I used to really enjoy. Honestly there are days where I don't take a shower or put deodorant on because I'm "to busy" cleaning, playing with the kids (I think most times they'd prefer if I spent 5min taking a shower) etc. When I do go out its minimal effort, clean yoga pants and a fleece pullover. How great can you REALLY feel when you put no effort in? I'm sitting here writing this in my pjs and a fleece pullover, still haven't showered for the day. That's going to change. I've not had much time for my hobbies, sewing, working out, reading etc. I've usually got a list a mile long of things I SHOULD be getting done before I do "me things". Sewing is going to come into play here quick. I am watching for a table to set up my sewing stuff on upstairs in "Ben's Room" AKA Junk room. Otherwise my sewing is strewn all over the dinning room table and I hate the clutter! Working out... well as soon as this baby is here the kids and I are going to be putting some miles on! I plan on using my kettle bells and in general moving a lot more. Is it May yet? Reading. Now that the kids are older and know how to listen for the most part the library doesn't sound that intimidating. Now I just have to get the motivation to get there ;) To all of you. I am looking for accountability and support. Please, if you read that I'm slacking or see me in person give me a helping hand. I'm not looking for perfection on any of these resolutions, I'm striving for progress. I can't do this on my own. I'll need help.
Here is to wishing you and all your families the best in 2014. Sadly, my new years resolution of blogging more often is off to a REALLY sad start seeing as its been well over a month since my last post. I have a few really good excuses though. I think. First being that I'm pregnant and have ZERO energy so any motivation I do find goes into playing with the kids, keeping them clean and fed and then the exciting normal daily stuff like laundry, dishes, keeping the floors semi clean... Second being the two little rug rats that rule my house. They have been getting into EVERYTHING. Kait in particular LOVES the computer. No matter where you "hide it" she finds it and likes to "type". And this leads up to reason three. Kait loves to type. I'm not sure if it was her really or the fact that our hard drive has been on a slow decline for the last, oh, year? But I had just paid bills and posted my last blog post. Went into the kitchen to get a few things done. Silly me thought if I pushed the chairs in at the dinning room table the computer would be safe. WRONG! Next thing I hear is the clicking away of the keyboard. At nap time I tried getting the computer to work again. No such luck! AHHH. YESTERDAY we finally got a new computer. Can you say procrastination? Christmas 2013There is a really nice place to get Christmas trees not TO far from us. Well worth the drive really. Ok maybe when the kids are older but we like it so that's where we get our trees from. ANYWHO. This year we decided last min after Sunday morning mass to go get our tree. It was snowing and that was one of Ben's requirements, it had to be snowing. I feel I should mention that it was also only about 3* out. BRRR. Tank fell asleep on our way. He missed the whole outing. BUT he stayed nice and cozy. How many little boys have a Guinness hat? Lucky kid. ;) THIS is how much Kait loved the whole ordeal. It really wasn't that bad. The tree farm is set up very nicely. Precut trees are housed in a nice large pole shed so you are out of the elements. (You can also go out and cut your own) I think we looked all of MAYBE 3 min before we found a tree. Really it was me saying IT COLD just get THIS one. "this one" being a tree shorter than I am. It worked well for us this year. Ben was REALLY REALLY busy this year for year end. We hardly saw him at all Nov and Dec. I ended up decorating the tree while the kids undecorated it for me. No dad :( A week or so before Christmas the kids' great aunt came to bake and decorate cupcakes. Needless to say my kids LOVE cake batter. They loved every spoonful of it. Wish I had gotten pictures of them "decorating" the cupcakes. 18m Update. YES! They are 1 1/2 already! Where does time go?Kids had a check up on the 10th. I could have sworn that I was told at their last check up there were NO shots until 2. Stupid Stupid Stupid me! Dad couldn't make it. He actually left the house SUPER early because he had to be 1/2 way across the state early in the am. :( I figured no shots, no problem. I could handle that right? First thing the nurse says is "this is a big appt, you ready for it mom?"... "Duuhhhh what?!?!?" was my reaction. Each kid got 2 shots in EACH let. 4 shots per kid! UGH! Reality is that my kids scream when they are asked to stand on the "big people" scale to get weighed. Now imagine getting held down and getting 4 shots. Albeit 2 shots at 1 time but still! All things considered they did very well. Tank (along with turtle) weighs 29lbs (95%) and Kait (with blanket) weighs 24lbs (75%). We did not get their heights, I'm pretty sure the nurse felt bad for me and the kids. And I really couldn't blame her, Tank was UPSET! He is my softy. Needless to say. My nerves were a little frayed by the end of the appt. But we fared well. It could have been WAY worse. Kids walked out of the office and into the weighting room with no more tears. I decided to treat them to a HUGE cinnamon roll at the local diner before we went home. Needless to say they loved it. I may have tasted it and it may have been completely worth the $4 for it. :) Both kids are learning new words almost daily. They have their "chores" like taking dirty diapers to the garbage when we are using disposable. They have to take their laundry to the laundry room. And of course pick up their toys! HUGE step for Tank this week. Sleeping in a regular twin bed. I didn't set out planning on having him sleep in the twin bed yet, even though it's been in the back of my mind for awhile. Last week Tank was having issues falling asleep and then waking up early, so I could come up with nothing else (because crying it out was not working and it kept kait up) but to lay in the twin bed that's in his room with him. Spent 2 nights calming him down so he could sleep while cuddling in bed. And then every morning we have been cuddling between 6-7am. I think it was Saturday night I told him to go to his room while I put kait down. When I got to his room he had crawled up in the twin bed and layed down with his turtle and fox. I went with it. Tucked him in, give him loves and left. I've only had to put him back into bed for ONE nap. (knock on wood). Hopefully potty training goes this well. LOL. One can wish right? Baby "I"We had our big scan on Christmas Eve. We were going to make it a family day and take the kids. I should upload the pic I took of the temp on the truck. It was -19* out. No way was I hauling the kids out in temps like that! So I went to the appt by myself while dad stayed home and watched the kids. Everything looks great. Well, great if you want to give birth to a 20lb baby! This little guy (yes we are expecting a boy!) is measuring 2 weeks ahead of schedule. My due date is not changing. We know conception. That's not a question. This kid must just take after his big brother. I did have Dad on the phone when we were looking to see if we were having a boy or girl. I think he got a little choked up when she said we were having a boy. We would have been happy either way but a boy is awesome.
Both J and K measured ahead but never 2 weeks. I can only imagine how big they would have been if I had actually carried them closer to 38 weeks! 6 weeks early they were 4.9 (Kait) and 5.5 (Tank). I'm thinkin they would have been a large set of twins and I would have been the size of two blimps. Baby stuff purge. I had 1 box packed up for my niece already to take home by that next weekend. And I just sent 3 more boxes up to WI. Along with a few boxes of more dated stuff but in good condition to good will and a pile of stained for rags (ben wouldn't let me throw them away). I'm SO excited to have less STUFF stored in random places! I can't even begin to tell you the weight it takes off my shoulders. I'm not a big clutter fan. Last night I organized "I" (i) clothes and blankets upstairs because I had found it all while going through Kait's outgrown stuff. The countdown begins. I'm ready. Bring on May please. I could keep yapping about stuff around here but hopefully I'll blog more often so my posts aren't so huge and bulging with random stuff. Until next time. |
