woe is me session.... sorry
This rain has got to stop for a few days! My yard looks like a pasture that should have been cut 5 days ago. I have this tab in my blog for pinterest projects but thanks to the rain I can't get any painting done. The kids and I have resorted to "outside time in the wagon" because the ground is to wet and I'm affraid i'll loose them in the too tall grass thats is my yard. The rain is making people CRABBY. The bugs are making people crabby. We sink when we walk into the garden. Plants in my garden keep tipping over. Soft ground and poor root structure NOT COOL! I haven't been able to hang out clothes or diapers since last wednesday. My kitchen floor is discusting. I now have to wear my muck boots to feed the chickens. I'm starting to think we may need to wash the chickens before we butcher them. On a happy note (that makes me cry a little inside) 2 weeks till Josiah and Kait turn 1! What a crazy year it has been. I may not remember 1/2 of it but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Thanks to my good friend Lisha who's little ones are 5 months older than J and K. She has truly helped me get through this 1st year. Its pretty great how God knows exactly who to put into your life when you need them most.

Happy first fathers day Ben! The weather was perfect! We both got our work out in during mass as usual. Kaiters is by far the worst at sitting still, but tank isn't to far behind. People used to smile, oogle over how cute the kids are and say how GREAT they are in church. NOW they say "They are soo good in church" and then chuckle......... We are standing there holding these two wiggle worms drenched in sweet thinking YOU can sit buy us and take a kid ANY Time! :) No seriously people I have no clue what is said during mass... If it wasn't for the fact that I've been attending mass since I was a baby and then 2x per week for 8 years while I was attending a Catholic school I'd have NO clue what was going on. We both vowed not to let the kids play on the floor with the kneelers... Yup we SO did that yesterday. I know my intestines couln't take the punishment from those little feet much longer. After mass Ben butchered a few chickens and put one on the grill for dinner. YUM ________________- MAYBE I should have told you what we did on SATURDAY before we go further. The kids gave Dad a card. No wrapped gift this year. Sorry Dad. In the card it mentioned the already given gift of a weather radio. Ben has been wanting one for awhile. When Tank and I were in town one morning we saw this one (one that was on sale during christmas that we never bought) in the window of our local radio shack on CLEARANCE! We scooped up the last one. However, even though it was TECHNICALLY a fathers day gift he got it early. We've had a bunch of severe weather rolling through the area this year. It would be kind of stupid to NOT use it if it is already in the house right? SO we uncerimoniously gave it 2 weeks early when the weather was calling for bad weather. Again. The kids also said they wanted to take their dad Grill shopping. He has been grilling off a little charcoal table top grill since before we got married. I'd say its about time he got himself a GOOD grill! He works so hard so that I can stay home with the kids. We went to Mason and picked one out. It was literally POURING when we were loading the truck. The only thing I can liken it to is a huricaine. Honest truth. We set the grill up that afternoon right away and cooked burgers and potatoes. The kids also promised family photos. We talked to Ben's aunt who lives in town she agreed to take the pictures. I'll attempt at the editing. And what a great excuse to have a cook out with family and the new grill!!! ------------------- Back to sunday. We played outside a TON with the kids. Kids played in the wash tub and in their little play house. Tank ate dirt of course. Kaiters played in the mud. Typical farm kids. We snacked on apples. Had Chicken for lunch. Went to town and got ice cream and frozen yogurt. After the kids were in bed ben cooked walleye, onions and asparagus (thanks Jim!)on the (you got it) Grill. :) We enjoyed a bottle of wine and a pretty crappy camp fire (EVERYTING is just soggy here). But it was a VERY nice day. Relaxing family time. Here are just a few more pics from our weekend. Weather/Rain Report
I hate to jinx it but Friday I don't think it rained. Saturday we had less than 1/10th of an inch in the late AM. Sunday no rain and so far no rain today.... Did we just seriously just have more than 1 day in a row without measureable rainfall??? Cool down for tomorrow and Wed (upper 70s) and then hot and muggy for the rest of the week with more rain chances. :S Garden Report: Lettuce is all sprouted (took us long enough to get it in!) Hopefully by next weekend we will have some ready for eating. Everything looks good in the garden. (that stuff that actually came up and didn't drown) Some things are looking a little yellow. We need to dry out a bit to fix that though! Strawberries are JUST starting to get a little pink to them! We'll be eating fresh berries SOON. Wild raspberries are WAY behind as well as the mullberries but in good time. The world inside our bubble is VERY wet. I don't have pictures. I haven't made the time to take pictures. Lets just say it will be awhile before a large portion of our yard can be mowed. Parts of our veggie garden washed out. Luckily MOST plants survived. The brand new row of carrots Ben and I had JUST planted not 24 hours prior to the deluge I suspect did not make it though. :( It was a replanting because most of our original planting of carrots didnt' come up.
Forcast for the weekend.... up to 2 more inches of rain. There are a LOT of huge corn fields that look like lakes. Our field that we rent out has weeds growing in it, not corn. I have a feeling it won't get planted anymore till next year unless they quickly get beans in but judging by the forcast thats not going to happen. Luckly we get paid rent no matter what. Happy Fathers day! I hope to have a better post up in the next few days. I haven't been in the picture taking mood lately. I've been feeling that I always get the same picture of the kids. Creativity is lacking. Hopefully soon. On a happy note summer has arrived. We had 77* with 95% humidity 2 days ago. I texted our plumber and told him I think we could FINALLY switch the heat to AC! (Long story why we can't just do it ourselves) We used the AC that night while Plumber and his wife were here visiting but haven't had to use it since. Yesterday was 77* with not much humidity. It was a PERFECT day outside. Kids are up. :) BYE BYE |
