These two SASSY kids turned 3 on the 9th! Birthday pictures this year were hard. They just weren't having it. Bribes worked for, ohhhh ONE good picture maybe. I took over 400 pictures PRAYING I got some good ones. I think I came up with a handful and that was it. Seriously Sassy and cantankerous lately. BUT I still love them. While there haven't been any huge changes in their lives in the past year, the number of little changes creates a lot of change in their lives. They have both grown so much. They both have taken the roll of big brother/sister and ran with it. They are both great with Isaiah in their own way. They sure make a great team. Where Josiah lacks in confidence Kait makes up for 10 fold. Where Kait lacks in quietness, Josiah makes up for and quiets her down a few notches for me. (most of the time, when they aren't fighting). Since summer started and the cement was poured for the garage both kids have learned to ride bikes, trikes and peddle tractors like pros. It is crazy how fast they pick stuff up. One day they could only ride their tractors on the cement and the next they are high tailing it down the driveway. ABC's and 123s Like most kids their age they are sponges. They love to look for letters when we are out and about. The library may be their favorite place to visit closely followed by Theisens and the park ;-). They both have their uppercase letters figured out for the most part. Lower case are a work in progress. Kait can easily count to 14 but and then randomly spits out numbers like fourtyteen. Josiah can easily count to ten but I have a feeling he knows more than that but is just being stubborn. Not sure WHERE he would get that from. No idea. KaitlinI'm sitting here working on this post (a week and a half late) WISHING I could get a video of Kait. AT. THIS. MOMENT. She is serenading me while I type. Singing about her dad making mountains. Jake visiting, Bethany coming over and a lot of random things about church. She is so full of energy, creativity and LIFE. Kait is always excited to go to church. Besides the coffee and doughnut social after mass, she loves the music. And she loves to dance. We have decided until her dance moves go beyond slowly spinning around in circles with a few sweeping hand gestures that we will let her dance. Between us. On the floor. Slowly. Sorry for the distraction people but God has blessed her with a love of music and a desire to dance. We plan on enrolling her in dance class this fall. (Sorry Josiah but you too will be enrolled at least for one month ;-) ) The fact that they will be attending 3 year old preschool this fall and that they WANT to go has worked out to my advantage many times. 1. Kait stopped sucking her thumb when I said she couldn't go to preschool until she did. BAM no more thumb sucking. 2. She had to learn to pull up her own undies and pants. Not 100% but darn near. 3. Use the big potty with no potty seat if you want to go to preschool. BAM NO potty seat. Seriously not sure what I'm going to threaten them with once they start preschool, this works way to well with both of them. Kait is a waterbug. I'm pretty sure she gets that from me. I'm not a great swimmer. Most would call me adequate at best. I won't drown. Right away at least if thrown overboard. But I love being in the water. I missed out on swim lessons this year for them mostly because they weren't old enough and then I forgot to call. Next year they will be in swim lessons and this girl will be over the moon happy about that! I think this girl will take whatever life gives her and make lemonade. Unless its chewy meat. Then she'll just spit it in the trash and move on the something better ;-). Ben's favorite thing she says "Yeah, me does" Craziest thing (I think) that she likes to eat? Sauerkraut that she makes with her daddy, and just yesterday she ate fried collard greens. JosiahI think it's a 3 year old boy thing but this photo is indicative of the majority of the pictures I get of him. When I break out the bribes I get the cheesiest photos ever. So I embrace the 'tude and get cute pictures like this of him being a boy. Josiah is not our "sports" boy. He is our worker boy. He is always wanting to fix things. Feed the critters, check for eggs, ride on the mower/tractor/plowtruck/skidloader.... Ben got him his own REAL tool set for his birthday. He has tried fixing everything that is broken in this house. If only it worked out the way he intended. So much would be getting done! Josiah is a great big brother. He and Isaiah share a room. His big heart amazes me at times. In the mornings if Isaiah is fussing, Josiah will get up, give him his turtle and blanket and then go back to bed. He LOVES his turtle and blanket but is willing to share them with his little brother. As I'm sitting here a few hours after I wrote about Kait, the kids are eating supper and Josiah wants me to tell him how I got the chicken OUT of the chicken.... As if the meat came out of the bird like an egg. Oh Lordy I have my work cut out for me. :-S My favorite thing to hear him say (even when its annoying) "But I love you at home" Craziest thing I think he eats (toddler standards here) his veggies. This kid will inhale his veggies. Beats, carrots, sweet corn, grean beans, lettuce and spinach, tomatoes. Exceptions being peas and brown beans. There are times, when with the help of good friends and perfect timing we get genuine joy pictures of Josiah. This boy LOVES to be tickled. These were the very last pictures I took one evening when we had friends over for a cook out. Love them. His blue eyes get me every time. And I love his longer hair cut. Missing what has been, looking forward to what will be.
