Kids have both been teething. Top teeth are making them a bit grumpier than the bottom teeth did and Tank hasn't been sleeping great because of it. :( Because of this and the fact we had some random plans for sunday we decided to let the kids get their normal nap in on Sunday morning. I went to church and the grocery store Sat night and left the kids w/dad. (Dad then went to Sunday am mass because he needed to be in town in the am anyways) ANYWHO... I'm making a long story short. I came home to this.... It had been SOOO nice out Saturday (sunday too) that we didn't spend much time inside. I managed to get the floors picked up before I left but only had time to stuff enough diapers so Dad had some clean diapers to put on the kids while I was gone. I left the rest in the basket on the floor by the couch....
Dad watched them bounce all over the living room, said they were playing so nicely that he didn't have the heart to say or do anything about it. Small price to pay for happy kiddos when they are teething!

Today was really a good day (weather not included) But there are a few things I just need to get off my chest. I'm sure many of you can relate to these... 1. (i'm not going to mention the weather) 2. Small town grocery stores why is it I can get WonTon wrappers and Egg roll wrappers on a regular basis but ricotta cheese not so much?!?! So much for my meal plans for Sunday! We don't have a exceptioally large asian population here in the middle of nowhere. There is not a whole lot of diversity actually but seriously HyVee how can you not stock ricotta cheese on a regular basis? Now I'm glued to Pinterest AGAIN trying to find a new idea for a meal on Sunday. Nothing else is going to get done tonight I'm sure of this. 3. Pinterest really is evil. Who pins sometihng that I fall in love with or really want to know how to do but they only pinned a picture and the link goes NOWHERE? Or it has been deleated off the web! My heart gets crushed EVERY SINGLE TIME. 4. No-one should ever have to wear their winter coat to the grocery store in April. EVER! Happy Note1. Kaiters has a new tooth
2. Kids both slept well, ate well, pooped well, played well today. 3. SOMEWHERE on this farm we have kittens. 3rd Dog is a mama. But we have yet to locate them so we don't know how many she had or what they look like. But 3rd Dog looked stuffed to the gills on Wednesday and on Thursday she looked like someone poked a balloon and deflated it. 4. It did not rain today. Easter weekend, a year ago this April, my sisters and mom threw me a baby shower. I was given so many wonderful things! Some of which we kept out and used right away. Some were put away and used. We have used everything that we recieved. Or so I thought.
Earlier this week I made a post looking for an idea to sew for Tank since it was going to be so cold, rainy, and yes even a little snowy. I was searching for fabric to make some soft play blocks and I found some fabric that my mom had so creativly wrapped the kids' high chairs in. Super cute fabric that I had packed away because we were trying to get the bedroom finished for the kids. And frankly sitting sucked. I tucked the fabric away in my fabric pile and completely forgot about. Until this week when I saw it again! So instead of making the blocks, I made the kids some light weight blankets for the summer. Now don't give me to much credit. I basically just sewed 2 pieces of fabric together and then did some top stitching. It didn't really take long to do them but I only got one done the 1st day. I just finished up the 2nd. They are identical. This morning I recieved an email from my hubby.
Dear Kaitlin and Josiah- How can you be 9 months already? A year ago around this time we were celebrating your pending arival with a baby shower! In the past month your personalities have really started coming through. Josiah you are a giggler. It is so easy to get you to smile and laugh. When we are out in public though you are such a serious little man taking everything in. You hardly say a word. BUT you are probably the most dramatic when you are hungery or tired. WOE IS YOU! You eat everything in sight. I really think if I just put a bowl of food out you'd eat it all day long. I really enjoy when you stuff your mouth full and keep your fists up by your mouth so when a piece slips out your fist is there to shove it back in. Since you turned 8m you have perfected pulling yourself up to a standing position. To sit down you usually just let go, hover a second and then, plop you go on your butt. I have a feeling you will be walking soon you are already furniture surfing! You had yoru 3rd cold so far. This last one was probably the worst one yet as it had a cough that went with it. But it didn't slow you down much and you are healthy again. :) At your Dr's appt last week you weighed 20lbs and were about 27". Kaiters. You sure are my peanut. You are quieter, much quieter than your brother. But when you do talk it sure is happy talk. You expecially like to talk when riding in the truck. You are such a fun happy little girl. But when I get the camera out the best smiles and giggles go away because you just want to eat the camera! Like your brother I think you'll be walking soon. You have perfected standing while holding onto something or at least using something to balance. You walk along the couch like you have been doing it for years. It is only time before you are walking on your own. Your brother gave you your 3rd cold. :( You were also admitted into the hospital for an infection for 3 days. The nurses all loved you. You made the techs sweat because NOBODY wanted to make you cry when drawing blood. I think you were stronger than they were! It is all cleared up now and you have a clean bill of health. Seriously though Kaiters if you want aweekend away, we can come up with something more fun. I promise! At your appt last week you weighed 18lbs on the nose and are also about 27" tall. I love you both so much and wish you could stay little forever but I sure do enjoy watching you guys grow and learn. Makes me humble to know that God gave you to US! Last week I let Kaiters play with a laundry basket. Obviously playing with the blocks is WAY more fun from inside the suitcase. Playing outside isn't so much fun when it is to wet to play on the ground! The next few days are supposed to be rainy. So in addition to painting I would like to sew something for Tank. But I need some help coming up with ideas. I don't want it to be a huge project, more along the lines of something I can get done in 1 day or come back to the next day if I need to.
Send me some links to tutorials please! I'd love to get some good ideas and I'll post pics when I'm done. Thanks! Kids go to bed at 7 so right now that gives us 1 hour to bust our butts outside getting the yard cleaned up before it gets dark. Last night we burned 3 stick "piles" or "mountains". When B. had the track loader here he made some HUGE piles when cleaning up the tree line. Tried to rake up all the little branches from when they cut trees down. There are piles of sticks in the yard that need to be picked up now. But more still to rake. This morning I threw the piles back in on themselves so we can hopefully get them completly burned down tonight. Well I didn't get the largest pile pushed in. Need the skid loader for that. When those 3 piles are completly cleaned up we have 5 more piles to burn maybe more. I hope to get a storage shelf built for out the back door today for boots, toys, bug spray etc. Pictures to come when finished. (if i remember :S) Spring is here! We have a few flowers that are finally starting to come up. The grass has a SLIGHT green tint to it. The snow on the lawn is completly gone. Now the work begins! Between the ice storm that we had and the boys cutting down trees this winter we have a TON of branches to pick up and stick piles to burn. Gardens to be worked and planted. Even a few to be built yet! The back yard needs to be fenced in. Tipi to be finished. Chicken coop, summer kitchen, and porch to be painted (for starters). The barn needs new windows and doors and a fresh coat of paint also. OHHHH I/we love the work, I'm/we are/just having a hard time finding the TIME to do it. Inside the house I've been working on getting the stairway and upstairs hall way painted. I've yet to complete the trim, but I have the paint color picked out. Now I just need Time. :) With the colds going through our house neither kid has been sleeping great so working in the hall way during nap time is a huge no no. I will not be the reason they don't get good nap. I'm ready for these colds to be gone! Ben and I went to Seed Savers in Decorah, IA again this past weekend and brought back home 6 additional old style apple trees! We are excited to plant them too in 4-6 weeks. And then enjoy their apples in ohhh say 10 years. :) After we were finished with the work shop we stopped down town to get some ice cream. We walked in and there was a group of college kids getting ice cream. Nothing to remind you more, that you do NOT need Ice cream, than a bunch of skinny college girls in spandex pants and cute little tops. Ben got 1 scoop of strawberry cheese cake in a bowl. I snuck a tiny taste of his and called it good. Kids had their 9m check up last week. I'll post details on their official 9m post. But they are both doing well. Here are a few pics of them to keep you happy till then. |
