The funny thing is my last post says "It's been a while".... and now it really has been a while... My computer's cooling fan started not working on my new computer so I had to have Ben take it in. :( My old computer is super slow and likes to randomly not work at all... so I haven't been doing a ton of internet stuff except for email.
On the house front, last weekend we got the plumbing about done and the tub in. We now have running water again! So soon as Ben gets back out there we can continue putting the bathroom back together. I'd really like to have a workable toilet :S. The flooring is all layed in the "office" and about 1/3 done in the living room. I have most of the cupboard doors off the kitchen cabinets and ready to paint. As soon as I get my computer back I'll have a bunch of pics to post. Until then ... just my ra

Here are some pics of the front entry. You can kind of see where we are headed with it. Still have some work to be done. Ben picked out flooringFree LaborBen's sister came to visit us for a few days before she heads off to her first year of college! And I put her to work... canning beans and mowing lawn. Hope to get some help painting before she leaves ;)
Trying to keep costs down as much as I can, I put a post out on craigs list looking for any paint interior and or exterior. I scored 11+ gallons of paint from one person! Plus an employee of MS Landfill emailed me and informed me that they have a "swap" room where we can get free paint. We just should check to make sure its still good before we take off with it! Maybe make a trip there Friday when we go to "resign" our loan papers.
Figured all the "issues" were beind us. Now there is a debate on whether we need flood insurance or not... ugh! This house has been here for over 100 years. You'd think it would have not made it this long being in a flood prone area.... You'd THINK. (our loan officers are saying that when you check it with the CORRECT city and state)
I left the house without taking pictures of the work in the entry way that we got done today! Started painting and putting up boards on the bare studded walls. It is really starting to feel a lot better! Pics will come sometime this week. Watch for them.
This week I have to get the living room and office 100% painted so we can put down flooring when Ben is home. I also want to get cleaned up around the garage. All the scrub trees, grapevines, raspberry bushes, weeds etc. Ben's dad is hopefully coming down with some paint and a floor sander. I love not paying $20+ for one gallon of paint. We also met our first neighbor today. Dave and his dad (never caught his first name) they gave us some sweetcorn and cantalope. YUM. Chicken sweetcorn and catalope for supper. It was great! Apparently the rumer mill has been working. They heard we were from Postville and had at least 2 kids. Postville is about 45 min in the opposite direction and no kids... wonder what else they are saying ;). I put this book together for my nephews at Christmas. Ben told me about a week ago that he wanted one. SO I ordered it! Came in the mail today. I can't get the link to work at the moment. But its a Combine book. I wanted a kids book with equipment that Uncle Ben sells. However there is NOTHING out there... can only find JD. So I followed some of Ben's customers around and took pics and put them together in a book.
I also got a 10% off code: XK9C-CXWX-AB6F-4EXFX Its up for grabs. If you use it comment on this post so we know its used. :) Here is my first batch of apple sauce for the year! Hope I get a lot because next year I'll only have little apple trees, maybe 5 apples :(. I'll miss the apple trees at the rental.
