The kids had their 15m check up scheduled for Oct. 4th. But I was feeling lazy and had to many other things going on that I cancelled it and waited a week to reschedule it. SO they had their 15m check up on the 31st and MUCH closer to 16m. They are growing growing growing. They make me tired! Every day they move faster and faster, and always in 2 different directions of course. Here are their stats. Kait weighs 22lbs and is 31 1/2 Tall. She has 1 molar in and 2 more just starting. She has handled these molars well. Beyond well. I didn't even KNOW that she had 2 more coming in. I just randomly did a mouth check on the kids one night and was floored. Couldn't ask for better teethers. Tank weighs in at a whopping 27lbs and is 31 1/2 inches Tall. He has 1 molar JUST starting to show. His teething has always been about 2-4 weeks behind Kait so this is normal. Both kids got their flu shot. I did as well. This check up apt was just going to be me and the kids but Dad suprised us and arrived JUST as we were being called back. Such a blessing. We would have survived through the crying (mostly me- I hate needles) and chaos but it was SO much easier with Dad there. Kids have a few words. Kait even says "Touch Down" while throwing her arms up in the air. Wonder where she learned this from? ;) We have tought the kids a few signs such as Hellp, More, Please, Eat, Thank you, up down and since Kait got a baby from a garage sale they both can sigh "baby" now. Tanks favorite word to sign is "Eat". Go figure. We were able to enjoy the last days of unseasonably warm fall weather. We have a really great pine tree in the yard that has the BEST sitting branch ever. My kids may drive me nuts most days. But I can't help but love them! I can't imagine my life without them. Seriously, what did we do with our time before they were here??? Life around the kidsBen has been really busy with work. Harvest is in full swing. Or at least it was. Some farmers are on hold until they can get propane to dry their grain. With how wet the grain is this year there is now a shortage of propane so some farmers are opting to leave their grain in the field for a bit until they can dry it right away. Even so this means Ben is putting in some long days. Not to mention year end is not that far away so farmers are starting to think about new equipment so Ben's phone is rining or dinging a lot lately. Trying to get ready for winter here. Cutting wood is a HUGE thing! We have no heat if we have no wood cut. Literally our propane furnace broke 2 years ago. The part that needs to be replaced costs almost as much as a new furnace sooooo we opted not to fix it, and since we dont' NEED it we haven't replaced it. Oh well. Garden is almost all harvested. We have 2 1/2 rows of potatoes left to bring in and then the rest of the popcorn. The garden this year was good but my effort in getting things canned sucked. I didn't can any tomatoes. But this is mostly because our tomatoes were crap this year. This year was the first year we planted brussle spurts. We haven't had a single brussle sprout from our garden. Ben planted 3 heads of cabbage. They are still in the garden. Oh well. We tried. We did not win. Its the effort right? We did get beats, carrots, beans, peas, broccoli, sweet corn etc all put up for the winter, so its not like we didn't get ANYTHING done. We have two pigs(mable and mavis) that we'll have over a bit of the winter so have to make sure they are comfy for the cold weather. And like every winter the chickens need to be winterized too! Ben wants to cut battons for the coop yet and then next year we'll HOPEFULLY get the coop painted. I've been (begging)asking Ben for a garden shed. We bid on several this summer but didn't get any. Ben decided that for the prices that used sheds are going for he can redo and move the white shed that we already have. So he's been busy working on that this fall. He jacked it up and put a new floor in it. Left an opening for a large sliding door. MOVED it compeletly accross the yard for me. And we just got the tin for it so as soon as we have time it'll get tinned. I"LL HAVE A GARDEN SHED! Sadly I don't have a picture if the shed in its current location but I will when we get the tin on! SO EXCITED!
Our pullets that we got this spring are starting to lay eggs! This being said our 4 old hens aren't cutting the mustard in their egg production... Just sayin. And here is one last pic of the kids to tide you over till next time.
