Spring came way early this year. Since it dried out we have been doing a TON of yard work. We have had tons of brush, branches, leaves etc to collect and burn. Today we mowed the lawn at the farm and then came home and mowed our whole yard PLUS Ben took off about 30 lawn sweeper loads off the yard. He didn't even get it all. But its a good start to his compost pile. Our garden got marked off today and we sprayed some roundup on the weeds before we plow and till it up for spring planting. I feel way behind on this because when you drive around you notice that a lot of gardeners have their cold hardy veggies in already! If only we weren't starting from scratch this year. :( Also drove past a few of the dozens of Amish/Menonitte green houses, they all had plants inside and out and customers! Spring sure is early this year. ChickensI love my chickens. Is that sad or what? They make being outdoors commical. They follow you around like dogs. Here is the pic of them I got this morning when I was sitting outside drinking some tea. VegasA few weekends ago we flew to Vegas on a Friday and flew back that Sunday. It was a nice trip. Our favorite part was going to Hoover Dam. It is also the only part we took pics of. We took the long tour and were able to go into the dam, see the huge turbine thingys (ben's outside so I cant ask him what they are really called), all the artdeco style tile, fixtures and such. Ben even got to walk down a vent tunnel and look out the vent wich is located on the face of the dam. It was pretty cool. Our tour guides Grandfather(?) helped build the dam and you could tell he REALLY was connected to the history of the dam. He works part time at the dam on weekend as a tour guide but is a building expector by day. He also said there is NOBODY burried in the dam.

Don't ask if we have names picked out. Cus we won't tell you.
I am honestly not trying to make this into a baby blog but its a great way to let you guys know whats going on without having to repeat myself a bunch. PLUS once it dries up outside we'll be getting a lot more done around here (knock on wood) so the "house" aspect of the blog will pick up some. Best words we heard today..."The babies look GREAT" Now that was great to hear... And another real estate transaction...I am starting to think we have a black cloud over our heads when it comes to buying property. We still haven't closed on the additional 16ish acres... long story and I'm pretty sure I don't know all the details because I've been staying out of it, Ben is trying to keep my stress levels down. LOVE him. Ben turns 28I Think Ben had a good bday. Nothing terrible happened. We watched a movie and ate chinese food. Quite night while it rained. Even had the 1st thunder "storm" of the year that night.
He thanks everyone for their cards, texts, emails, phone calls. |
