TWO! Broken record here but how on earth did this happen??? I scolded, I yelled, I stated in no uncertain terms he was NOT to turn two. He was supposed to stay my baby for a little while longer. Kids, they just don't listen. I fear the next 16 years. I was ready for his 1st birthday. It didn't hurt as much as his 2nd. His first birthday he was still a baby and not. quite. walking. Only a few words. Still in his crib. Still in diapers. Yup, he was still a baby. But as I've said, his birthdays, his milestones are going to be harder for me than Josiah and Kaitlin's. He is my last. His firsts are my lasts. In the past year he took his first steps (13m) the last first steps of my children. He was potty trained (18m but I'm not sure I'll REALLY miss diapers and potty training!). He moved to a big kids bed (20m?) Crib was sold 2 days later (no more watching my babies sleep safe in their cribs). He started counting. He can count to 5 on a regular basis but knows all the numbers up to 12. (The last time I'll teach my kids their ABCs and 123s) HE TOLD HIS FIRST KNOCK KNOCK JOKE! Zaza: "Knock Knock" ME: "Who's there" Zaza: "Hay bale, tree, hay bale, tree, hay bale tree" Makes zero sense to me but the kid thinks he is the funniest thing ever. He says full sentences. " Dad got skid loader stuck in Scott Jaden's field" was his favorite for about a month. He sings. He dances. The week before his birthday he figured out how to ride the trike. Maybe its because he grew and could reach the peddles. I'm not sure but he got a little bit, no a lot a bit older when he did that. Ben texted me tonight (mom's night out) and said he pretty much got his pajamas on himself. Isaiah is already starting to not need me. Gets his own water when he wants out of the bathroom sink. Can get his own snack at snack time. Picks out his own clothes ( I do NOT get to choose pajamas EVER anymore) Can go potty by himself if in the right clothes. Tells me often "i do it myself mom". Like a knife to the heart. This kid is a lover. We have not met someone he doesn't love. The people he has wrapped around his finger is long. Beyond the grandparents and family. There are many many many. I'm pretty sure if you asked him who he loves in our church family he would pretty much list everyone. Isaiah loves his tractors. Will play with his tractors for a long time by himself, content, happy. Best part staying out of trouble. Loves his skid loader (loose him outside, check the skid loader first, almost always find him there) Loves playing in the sand if the mud isn't available. Loves playing with his brother and sister Favorite books are Tractor Mac books He will eat raw onions by the handful. Loves salads, tomatoes, cucumbers and ranch. Didn't eat his strawberry birthday pancakes because they were to sweet since I put whipped cream on them. Mom fail. Thought it sounded like every kids dream. Served 3, 3 hardly eaten pancakes came back. : Isaiah is and always will be my baby. He is independent, sassy, a lover, a fighter, lover of dirt and all things tractors. He is my blue, green, gray with a hint of brown eyed baby boy. Loving what has been. Looking forward to what is to come. Below: Because when you are 2, everything is so much easier. He made it all the way down TWICE, zero help.
